88 kVA generator for a Midlands council data centre
An 88 kVA Blackwell generator with a Baudouin engine and Stamford alternator protects a Midlands council's disaster recovery data centre.
The requirement
A Midlands local authority wanted to make its disaster recovery data centre more resilient. The site hosts public service portals, finance, payroll, planning and housing systems, emergency communications and secure backups.
What we supplied
A brand-new 88 kVA Blackwell enclosed diesel generator for standby duty, built with a Baudouin industrial engine and a Stamford brushless alternator. It was sized to the assessed load so the site isn't paying for an oversized set.
Installation and commissioning
We worked with the council's facilities and IT teams on sizing, positioning and connection to the existing electrics, then tested and commissioned the set before handover.
The outcome
The data centre now has a dedicated backup supply with stable power for sensitive IT and comms equipment, built from widely serviced components — giving the council more confidence that public services keep running.
